When it comes to thread tension on your Innova longarm sewing machine, you want to make sure you can properly adjust or fix the tension. We know that many quilters might avoid the tension dials on your sewing machine. But once you understand how the tension works, you’ll find it much easier to adjust the tension as needed — especially if you’re experiencing tension problems with your quilting and other projects.

What are some signs of tension problems or signs that you need to adjust the tension? There are different ways you can tell, including:

  • Fabric stretching
  • Random loops
  • Skipped stitches
  • Puckering seams
  • Loose seams

At Jukebox Quilts, our blog is here to provide you with different resources when it comes to your quilting sewing machines, including the Innova longarm. In this video, Michael Schwazberger from ABM International demonstrates tension adjustment on the Innova longarm sewing machine. There are some basic tools we recommend having available for your adjustment:

  • Flashlight
  • Screwdriver (with optional tool hanging slot to wrench your screwdriver)
  • A smaller screwdriver
  • If you have a newer machine, a 4 mm Allen wrench

Once you’re ready to go, follow along with Michael as he walks you through the adjustment process.
